Semana 15 - Octubre 2014

Semana 15 - Octumbre 2014
Taco Count for the Week:  15
Total Taco Count:  186

By the time I get to the cyber to write home my mind starts racing about all the
things that have happened this past week and as soon as I start to write I draw a
complete BLANK! haha
There wasn´t a ton that happened this week so this will probably be a little short.. =)
We celebrated Carmen´s birthday on Saturday! Ate a TON of cake!
and ended with all of us in tears because she was telling us that she has never
had much of a family in her life but that she couldn´t imagine her birthday
without her new family.
UGH I LOVE HER SO DANG MUCH!!!!

There was a baptism of this cute little family!

They aren´t my investigators but because of splits I have gotten to know them all so well!
Their story is INCREDIBLE!!!!
I love lessons with them because every single one of them sit in total reverance,
huge eyes, clinging on every word you say!
At the end when we ask if they have questions the dad always stops and sits back in his
chair and rests like he has just ran a mile!
I have never felt the spirit like I have in lessons with this family=)
Their baptism was definitely one I will never forget. =)
All the missionaries (us included) had prepared a musical number.
As we were singing halfway through the number they started tearing up and reached to both
sides and all held hands!

Getting lost in this work is beyond anything I have ever experienced!
I have never loved others as much as I love these people=)

I hope all is well in the states!
Someone told me there is some deadly sickness spreading or something!
???
She just walked away laughing and yelled... "VIVA MÉXICO!!!
hahaha so stay safe!! =)

Semana 14 - Octubre

Semana 14 - Octubre
Taco Count for the Week:  9
Total Taco Count:  171

(Editor's, Mom, Note:  Yeah, it looks more like a burrito to me, too.  But it's a
cute picture so it's staying).

BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE......

Bautisim of Hermana Eulalia=)

Her whole story is so amazing and her baptism has been pushed back every single week
for the past four months.
I am super lucky that I was able to be part of her special day!
The spirit was UNBELIEVABLE during her baptism.
The whole ward her family and all her missionaries have been anticipating this day for a long time=)

Soooo..... if you know me.... you know how great I am with keys.
I am lucky that I got locked out of my apartment at USU enough to learn how to break into an apartment.
It´s not something that I am super proud of... I know.
But it sure has paid off=) haha

We had the locks changed though! =) It was more a security concern of the Landlord.
She is super cute and looks out for us because we are...
"Little Angels from God"

It´s rather difficult to describe just how insane the bus system here is. I THOUGHT I got to
the point where I understood.

Nope.

We got on a bus and took off.. seriously two minutes pass by and I have NO IDEA where we are!!
There are things called invasions here. That´s all you could see.
There were a ton of people on the bus at the beginning and next thing I know we are the only two... and the bus driver.
The roads were horrible! and we were bouncing all over the place!!
All of a sudden the driver pulls over, stops the bus, AND LEAVES!!

Here is where we were:

to the right of the bus.....

to the left of the bus.....

We got everything figured out and finally arrived safely=)

This last week I mentioned that my companion and I had plans to srop ALL of our investigators.
Well we passed by the house of Hermana Virginia (remember her?) with full intentions to drop her.
Her husband let us in and led us to her room where she was resting.
We get there and what is she doing... Reading her Book of Mormon!!
She was SO excited to see us!!
She rushed us to sit down and answer all her questions!

We ended out not dropping her...=)
this seemed to happen with multiple people.

Okay I need to share one last story because it was just about the funniest thing!

Last Monday after I finished writing we went to go visit one of our investigators.
We talked about conference and started teaching him the commandments.
In the middle of the lesson he interrupted us and told us he had a question but that it was better if he asked at the end.
We finished the lesson and asked him again.
He was too embarrassed to ask...
We explained our purpose was to help him.
He made us PROMISE that we wouldn´t judge him!!!

This is what he explained...

"I love everything about this church! I honestly believe that it´s true! I am willing to change SO many things in my life but there is one thing that I don´t know if I can give up... During the conference I noticed that nobody has one! I don´t understand why they aren´t permitted in this church..."

My companion and I were both stumped.

He put his hand over his mouth and said
"Es mi bigote..."

We both just about died laughing!!!
We explained that he can keep his bigote as looooong as he wants!
Now there is nothing stopping him=)

This church is true. I know it=)
Bigotes and all=)

Semana 13

Semana 13
Taco Count for the Week:  9
Total Taco Count:  162

HOLY CONFERENCE!!!!!!

I don´t know about any of you but conference was definitely the highlight of my week=)
Literally SO many answers to SO many prayers!
The whole language thing was super cool too!
It made me miss Utah... Especially watching Music and the Spoken word...

Well, the time finally came! I spent most of the week sick.
I got a nasty stomach infection.
Literally everything I ate made me crazy sick!!
The worst part of all of it is that we were doubled booked for meals this week.
We would go stuff ourselves full at one house then two hours later eat a WHOLE
other meal at another house.
I actually threw up from eating too much for the first time in my life.

We saw lightning strike outside our apartment!!!
It was just about the coolest, yet scariest, thing EVER!
I can´t even describe how loud it was! Every car alarm instantly went off.  There was
a huge explosion of sparks!
Everyone instantly stopped what they were doing... waited about 30 seconds then
just continued!!
I am still in awe over it=)

We made a trip to the aquarium again=)
This time with EVERYONE in Mazatlán.
Hermana Ruiz and I made an intersting decsion during our weekly planning.
We decided we were going to drop every single one of the investigators we have.
After a lot of prayer and much thought we both feel comfortable with this decision.
We have set a lot of goals and our both really anxious to see what happens next=)

I seriously cannot explain to all of you how much I love being here!!!
I spent so much time contemplating a mission and said I would only serve if I knew
it was something I needed to do.
I think deep down I always knew it was what I needed to do but I was waiting to
hear or feel or see...something else.
But it never came.
I know more than anything that God knows us and knows the true desires of our hearts.
God never gave me an answer because He knew it was already what I wanted.

I love that the mission is changing me. I love that I am being stretched and challenged in new ways every day.
I want to invite all of you to pray and ask for opportunities to be stretched.
For this week specifically to learn something new about yourself.
Maybe something you need to change.
Once you notice what it is... Do what you can to change it=)
Peace and blessings.... peace.... and blessings!
