Semana 46 - Mayo 2015

Semana 46 - Mayo 2015
Taco Count for the Week:  10
Total Taco Count:  504.50

This is going to be kind of short this week...
BUT I sent a lot of pictures with lots of little stories=)

We have been trying to get one of our converts to go to seminary... it´s at 5 in the morning! She is super into exercising and working out and everything so we had a little lesson about the word of wisdom and said that after seminary on Monday (Today) that we would come and all exercise together!!  Well, it failed. she didn´t go to seminary=( but us and the other sisters got together to dance and work out=) this was after a nice session of Insanity!=)

The most exciting from this week is the Guerrero Family!
We had an appointment with them this morning... we went with President.
I don´t think we can get through a single lesson without crying!!
before we start when they go to get their Books of Mormon they just bring the tissue with them. Haha

Having President and his wife there was incredible!!
President knew that I was torn on the date to put for their baptism.
Before the lesson I told him to do it.
But, in the lesson he turned and looked at me and I knew exactly
what he was saying!
I was being selfish and wanted to put the date before the transfer ends so that I will be able to be here for the baptism...
I knew I had to drop my pride and put the date when the Lord wanted.
But...there was still a really long pause before I said the date!! Haha

I have been searching for a family my whole mission...
but,
I feel good about it... They feel good about it.
That´s all that matters. =)

Yesterday at church we talked about the Holy Ghost in Sunday School.
We were asked to each think of an experience when we have felt the
Holy Ghost.
Karla (Guerrero Family) was wiggling in her chair but was to afraid to share,
so I asked what her experience was.
Turns out we had the same experience we wanted to share=)
I began telling the story from my point of view and she finished with hers...
The spirit was so strong=)

Walking through an oven in Culiacan and God sends you little blessings=) We found little blocks of snow!!!! Wahoo!! We had our own little "snowball fight." I threw my ice block at her and she threw hers at me. It was a precious moment=)

Oh, in other news we have someone visiting us from the presidency of area (Yeah, the seventy) so we are preparing everything.
President asked me if I could organize a choir... Uhhh... I don´t even sing.
But I accepted so that should be fun=)

This is a picture of the dog that ATTACKED my companion:
Here was the conversation:
"Hermana, I think that dog is gonna bite me!"
"No, don´t worry about it, dogs never bite here."
"No, really look at it! It totally wants to bite me, It´s freaking me out!"
"Hermana, it can smell your fear... just act cool."
3 seconds pass by
"OH MY GOSH HERE IT COMES!!"
Literally came running growling and JUMPED and attacked her! Luckily she threw the fetal position and it only bit her backpack... broke the backpack, but she is alive.
The best part was the owner walks out and holds her hands out telling us to calm down "No, no don´t worry about it! He doesn´t bite..." Uhhhhh.... DID YOU SEE WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!
I bit my toungue and we left. We were both on an adrenaline rush after. Haha I love dogs in Mexico.

Hermana Perez is opening up a lot more=) with me and in the lessons!
She is really funny, lovable and sweet=)
It makes me a proud mother!
Whenever it gets dark outside she always holds on to my backpack strap and stays really close.
It´s just one of those little things that she does that makes me happy=)

Love you all=)

Semana 45 - Mayo 2015

Semana 45 - Mayo 2015
Taco Count for the Week:  21 (NEW RECORD!)
Total Taco Count:  494.50

You know how they always say that you learn more as a trainer than the trainee...
Well that rang true this week!

We had so many crazy awesome, challenging, inspiring, and difficult lessons that we learned!
But by the end of the week we were both super happy about what we ahd done, but more importantly what we had learned.

As missionaries we plant lots of little seeds!
Every day we plant and plant and plant.
Normally we aren´t around long enough to see the flowers
bloom from these seeds.
This week we got to see a whole tree burst up from the ground!!

A few weeks ago (or maybe one week ago) I wrote about while we were in the clinic and were testifying in front of everyone that was there.
There was a special spirit that was there as we spoke.
After we left them with pamphlets, I left praying that just one of them would accept our message.
That something in our words touched their heart.

Well, Tuesday we ended back at the clinic.
This time NOBODY was there!
We waited sort of gazing out the window and saw someone pass by.
Not even a second passed and we saw her turn around and walk
back in and ask us if the Doctor was with a patient.
We told her that she would be done soon.
As she explained to us that she just wanted to have her blood pressure
checked quickly... I recognized her!

"You were here the other day when we passed by!"
She smiled and nodded her head. We caught up talking a little and she interrupted and said,
"I have been thinking a lot obout what you said the other day.  I have been going through a lot lately and have started seeing a psychologist.
I walked by and saw you both sitting here.
Something told me to come back and talk to you.
I don´t really need my blood pressure checked, I was just
looking for an excuse.
But, do you think you could stop by later today?"

Uhhhhhhh...... YES!!!!

So we had an amazing lesson with her and her two kids=)
She is a widow, her husband died from cancer and she has been
looking for answers.
Her daughter went to mutual on Friday and they came to church on Sunday!
I was kind of worried because some of the topics we talked about
were a little...well... strong. Ha.
I was hoping and praying the entire time that she wouldn´t hear something to scare her off!
But at the end of Relief Society she came up to me and asked,
"Can you stop by the house tomorrow?"

I am excited to work with them=)

I am really short on time and this is a week that I have a million stories to tell!
But I will have to leave it at this.

I was being kind of stubborn this week and wanted to do things MY way... I wanted to achieve the goals that I had set for myself.
But, I quickly realized that these were not the plans the Lord had.
Almost every lesson this week started in one lesson and ended in a
completely different lesson.
But, each time we listened to the spirit,
each time we changed the lesson based on the needs of the investigator,
we left the lesson beaming!
Because we knew that we had helped them=)

Remember what it means to be a witness of God.
To always live the gospel!
You can always be a MISSIONARY=)
Just pray for the opportunity!

I love you all!

Semana 44 - Mayo 2015

Semana 44 - Mayo 2015
Taco Count for the Week:  18 (A NEW RECORD!!!)
Total Taco Count:  473.50

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!!
to all you mothers out there=)

Talking to my family was just about the best thing ever!=)
That was the last time I will talk to them until I am home... Lots of mixed feelings about that one.

Yesterday they did the cutest thing in Relief Society!
They gave all the moms... and future moms=) ROSES!
Then the primary came in to sing a song to all the moms.
One thing that never changes in the church... the primary.
Little kids always like to be in the stand waving their arm and
yelling to their mom.
It makes me happy=)

They finished their song and all the little kids left running to their moms
to give them a hug!
I sat watching for a little while and all of a sudden I felt tears fill up my eyes as I thought to myself...
"I just wanna hug MY mom."

I think everyone realized that I was crying and next thing I knew they were all giving me that sympathetic mother look!
With tears in their eyes they would look at me and nod, letting me know they understood... Then they would give me candy, tissues, their roses etc. Hahaha
It was nice to be in a place where I could feel so much love=)

This week has been an emotional rollercoaster!
We have a lot of new investigators and met a lot of really good people!
We are working a lot with a family right now that are helping us SO much... Member missionaries are the BEST!!!
I actually just got of the phone with the Hermano giving us another reference=)
YAYYY!!

That is the upside... the downside, dropping people.
We had one investigator that is SO great! H. Christensen and I
started teaching her.
She always calls us "niñas" and is super sweet=)
We had a SERIOUS lesson with her this week... They are the DTR´s of the mission.
She ended us telling that she will NEVER go to church and that she will NEVER be baptized.
Those are pretty strong words to hear.
She told us that was how she felt and it wasn´t going to change and that if we still wanted to stop by we were always welcome but it was our decision.
It REALLY hurt to look at someone that I have felt so much love for and as much as I YO Hermana Robinson would LOVE to keep visiting her,
I have to respect her agency.
I shared my testimony and told her that we wouldn't be visiting her anymore.
She was really understanding.

We had another really interesting lesson this week.
I was able to use one of my gifts!=)
We stopped by a members home to visit them.
Turns out she has been going through a lot of hard times.
We asked how things have been going at her new job and you could instantly see the No in her Yes.
She and I began talking and I can´t even explain how or WHAT happened.
I think my companion was really confused.
She kept looking at the Hermana then back to me then back at her...
She turned to me and asked me in English,
"What the heck is going on?!"

I explained and we continued with the lesson... I honestly didn´t feel like we helped much.
But she told us that she had recieved her answer and was grateful for that.

We don´t visit her really often but it seems like every time we do it is because she has prayed that we would stop by.
I know God puts us exactly where he needs us when he needs us there=)
It´s something I have seen many times in my mission
but I still love to see it happen!

Sending all my love!!
Hermana Robinson

Semana 43 - Abril/Mayo 2015

Semana 43 - Abril/Mayo 2015
Taco Count for the Week:  7
Total Taco Count:  455.50

Okay so I am SUPER short on time because I got writing a lot of people=)

BUT....

Training is seriously the most amazing thing ever!!!!
It´s fun to be on the other side of things as you watch them figure it all out=)
Hermana Perez is super anxious to get working and just about everything we do she always responds
"Yo puedo! Yo puedo!"
Even little things like opening the front door (more difficult than it sounds).

The first day I asked if she wanted to start the lesson... my first day in the field I was totally lost I expected her to tell me to do it.
She happily accepted the challenge!
I taught her what to say and how to start and we practiced in the morning!
Then she was off and running!!
She learns quickly=) So that is really good=)

She always speaks to me in English but I am still a little slow in that area so I only reply in Spanish.
Sometimes I think that she understands a lot more than she actually does!
But, she has got the ear for it and learns a ton every day=)

She is SUPER sweet and SUPER loving!!!=)
She is awesome!

This week we ended out having to go to the clinic.
Apparently this time of year everyone gets sick...
We were in the waiting room with a bunch of other people.  It´s really little so we were packed pretty tight in there!
We got talking... and naturally, religion came up!
I began testifying and sharing simple truths of the doctrine of Jesus Christ.
I LOVE moments like this as a missionary=)

Having a group of people that have never heard something like this hanging on every word that you say!
I can´t even describe the feeling of the spirit in these moments=)
Literally those moments where you just open your mouth and the
Lord does the rest=)
Those are the moments I never want to forget.

A little while back I mentioned a new investigator we had... her name is Ana.
The one that I was sure would be baptized before her actual baptismal date...
Well she dropped us this week=(

Someone once told me it feels like a bad high school break-up when that happens.
Well that´s 100% true.
I am still in denial about the whole thing=(
But learning to accept someones agency is a hard lesson to learn.

We are anxious to get to work this week and start fresh!=)

oh oh oh...
tomorrow is MAY 5th!!!
Do something to celebrate Mexico and think of your favorite basically-Mexican Missionary in Culiacan=)

Love you all!!

Semana 42 - Abril 2015

Seman 42 - Abril 2015
Taco Count for the Week:  5
Total Taco Count:  448.50

Who has two thumbs and is now training?!

THIS MISSIONARY!!!!!

I am SUPER crazy excited about it=)
I have wanted to train basically since the beginning of my mission!
I have actually known for about 2 weeks.
Kind of funny... normally transfers are a huge secret and you can´t say anything to anyone.
But all the Elders in the offices know.
I think each one of them were so excited to see my reaction that they
all spilled the beans!
Each one was super bummed when I told them I already knew...
Even our president couldn´t wait! He spilled the beans in anticipation to see my reaction=)

She is really cute! Her name is Hermana Perez.
She is from Idaho... but she is Mexican. =)
She understands me really well and Spanish is already part of her blood so we will be fine=)

It has been an emotional couple of days. Feeling super down in the dumps because my best friends is leaving me=(
But crazy ridiculous EXCITED to train at the same time!

The week was full of lots of goodbyes=(
But the best part was the huge Family Home Evening we had as a ward.
Everyone got to share some words with Hermana Christensen, then we ate some awesome food at enjoyed the time=)
GOLL, I AM GOING TO MISS HER!!!

But the most eventful part of the week were the PEOJOS....
(H. Christensen gave me permission to share this)

Do you know what peojos are?!.....
Lice.... that´s right LICE!!!!

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Three days before she goes home she gets lice.
We left from a lesson and started scratching her head and we joke that
she had lice.
We stopped (still joking around) and I offered,
"Here let me check."
I start digging around in her hair.

Immediately start laughing my head off!! I know... not the best reaction.
I looked her dead in the eyes,
"YOU HAVE LICE!"
I am still laughing so of course she doesn´t believe me!

I start explaining to her that I WAS NOT kidding and that this was my nervous laugh...
Still not completely convinced... I tell her in English.
That´s when she knows I am serious.

I grab her head again and pull one of the lice out and leave it on my finger.
We then run down the street, H. Christensen grabbing my pointer finger with both hands towards the house of a member.
We get there not even saying anything, walk right in the house show her my finger, and ask her what it is?!
She looks at us both and says...
"Quién?"
That was when my comp screamed.

We went and bought shampoo and headed home to kill the little suckers.
I spent all night washing her head.
Picking out lice.
Killing them.

We couldn´t help but laugh at the whole experience because it happens JUST before she goes home=)
That would happen.

We had a conference as Sister Missionaries=)
Ugh, those are the best!!
We had a spiritual part at the beginning and were able to hear from the
Sister Leaders.
Then we had a Zumba class thingy...
It was to learn how to excercise more effectively in the mornings. Super fun=)
THEN... We had a self-defense class!!
It was awesome.

In these conferences with pure Sister power, we always end out talking about Marriage and Motherhood.
I have learned so much about the importance of the family on my mission=)
It makes me want to work harder and learn more so that I will be a strong wife and mother in the future=)

I am really excited to get to work this week! And I am excited to let you all know how it goes=)

Love you all SO much!!!!
