Semana 29 - Enero 2015

Semana 29 - Enero 2015
Taco Count for the Week:  7
Total Taco Count: 310

This week was actually super looong!!
We had so many different things to do... lessons all over the place different meetings and errands and a whole other list of things!

I got to play Doctor this week=)
Our sister training leader is one of the other sister missionaries on the ward and called us Monday after we left the cyber,
turns out she went into the doctor because she felt sick and they ended out having to operate.
Her companion had to clean her wounds daily but faints at the sight of blood and my companion does, too.
So she asked if I could go each morning to help her...

She was in pretty bad shape and passed out on me one morning.
But we went again this morning and she is doing better=)

We had Max´s baptism on Friday=)
President came out to support us!

This picture are all the missionaries in the ward, the Mission President and his wife, the Bishop, the first new member of 2015, and the brother who baptized him=)

The baptism went really well=)
My favorite part was when everything got done and we were asking how he felt...
super giddy with tears in his eyes he told us how happy he was=)

Small and simple things.

WE HAD MENUDO THIS WEEK!!!! If you are familiar with Mexico... you know what that is.
I have eaten it a number of times!
BUT my Mexican companion has never tried it!!
It came up in conversation with one of the sisters in the ward and when she found out that Hemana Iniestra had never tried it...
The next time we went to her house, SURPRISE!

You can see the joy in my comp's face=)
Haha

This week we invited President Velez and Hermana Velez to come with us to teach some lessons!
It was so amazing to be with him and to learn from him!
He has a spirit that is so different... and I know it´s not just me that can feel it=)
As he taught in the lessons I got so soaked into what he was saying that when he finished and turned to me to continue I had to remind myself that I was there to teach too!
I know he has been called by the prophet to lead us and guide us as missionaries=)

One of the investigators that we visited with President came to church on Sunday=)
When we left Sacrament meeting she came up to us and was telling us how she wanted to cry during one of the talks!
She was confused because she felt so happy inside but was crying on the outside!

We smiled and told her that this was the spirit that we have been teaching her about!! The feeling that we can´t describe!
She looked at us with big eyes and said,
"Ohhhhhh, I get it."

It was so sweet and sincere to see this light in her eyes as she was recieving the revealed truth taught to her by the spirit=)

This church is true. I have seen it change lives but more importantly I have seen it change hearts.

Sending my love,

Hermana Robinson

Semana 28 - Enero 2015

Semana 28 - Enero 2015
Taco Count for the Week:  8
Total Taco Count:  303

Last week when I wrote I shared that we have been doing really
well in our area!
We have so many investigators that are moving forward!
It`s incredible to watch=)

After having a successful week I was afraid to have a week that
we fell right back to where we were!
I had this idea in my head.
"We obviosuly can`t continue to have weeks like that."
I stopped myself right then and there.
Repented.
And we put together plans not only to keep
us at the level we are...
but plans that are going to take us even one step farther=)

Well, we were able to break our numbers from last week!!=)
I know it is only through LOTS of prayer, fasting, preparation, and FAITH!

We have a wedding this week with two of our investigators!!! wahoo!!!
It was super funny in the lesson...
We taught about baptism and got them super excited to be baptized.  We
put their date and they started planning everything!
I pulled out my agenda and asked them very nonchalant,
"So what day can we put the wedding before your baptism?"
They both sat and stared at me for a little while and then said they
were free Wednesday=)
PERFECT!!

One of our investigators that had his baptism this week had to leave short notice for his work to D.F.
But, he is going to visit the temple while he is there and already looked up the chapel and the hours of the services and everything=)
It made me happy=)
He will be back in the middle of February=)

My companion got attacked by dogs.
It was very interesting to watch how it all played out.
First of all, Hna Iniestra is DEATHLY afraid of dogs!!
She almost passes out every time there is some dog in the street
looking her way.
(I`m sure you can imagine how many times in the day that is in Mexico)
She is 100 percent convinced that the only purpose dogs have is to
find her and bite her!

So we were walking down the street and here comes a huge dog... she grabs my arm and starts pointing at it telling me how he just wants to bite her!
I kept walking... like I normally do. haha
Then she FROZE right in the middle of the street!
I turned to her and told her she had to keep walking or he would
come to sniff her.

I turned around to see if she was coming and saw a herd of 5 dogs running straight towards her!!
They all started barking and freaking out and fighting, still headed for my comp.
They surrounded her and started barking at her.
I felt like she was the swimmer in the water surrounded by sharks and I was in the boat.
She kept yelling at my to save her but I had NO idea what to do!!

We sat in this situation for about 5 minutes... everytime she took a step they snapped and tried to attack her foot!
I watched to see what she was going to do...
She took a deep breath, folded her arms and started praying.
Immediately all of the dogs stopped barking and looked up at her.
She finished her prayer.
Put her hands over her eyes.
And just started walking forward towards me.
The dogs moved out of her way and watched her walk towards me,
turned around and left!

I looked at her in amazement!
Neither of us said a word. We smiled at each other and kept going=)

Sometimes we underestimate the power of prayer!
My companion is always such an example to me of prayer!
Follow my companions example=)

Semana 27 - Enero 2015

Semana 27 - Enero 2015
Taco Count for the Week:  28 (Wow!)
Total Taco Count:  295

I feel like I am on a total mission high right now!!
I hope you can all feel the love that I have for missionary work=)
This week was one that I am going to remember for a looooong time!!

We had a zone meeting on Saturday and it was INCREDIBLE!!
I love leaving meetings like that because you just have an extra fire in you!

This week we went to a part of our area that neither of us have been...
It`s called Culiacancito!
President told us that we couldn`t go without a member.
We found someone to go with us that knows the area and has friends that are
there that she wanted us to visit.

When we got there I couldn`t help but smile...
It was the Mexico that I had always imagined!
My companion and I looked and it, each shrugged, and went off contacting=)

We taught a few lessons and got to know some of the people there.
After about an hour we realized why president advised us to go with someone...
We ended out coming back to our area.

A few months back we met a family that was a reference from members
from a different ward.
All of the siblings and parents are members and now they are sending us to
the only family that aren`t members.
We had a really great lesson but haven`t been able to find them since.
One night we passed by hoping they would finally be there...
The dad opened the door WAY too excited to see us!
Hahaha it`s not normally the reaction we get.
He invited us in and told us to take a seat.
He pulled out his phone and asked us if he could take a picture?
Uhhhhh..... ?
Sure?

He took a picture and sent it to his mom.
We asked why he was so excited to see us and what the picture was for?
He took out his phone and handed it to us to look at the conversation he was
having with his mom.

She was telling him that they were coming to visit and they were about
three hours out of town.
He replied and said:
"I will be here waiting with Hermana Iniestra and Hermana Robinson."
That message had been sent about two and half hours earlier!

We both read it and looked up at him confused...
He explained to us that in the past few months when we hadn`t seen him he
has been pondering about all that we taught them.
He decided to pray.
His prayer was that we would visit him exactly that night!!

The best part of all of it was his faith! He KNEW we would come! He was even
telling his mom! Haha=)

It explains why he was so excited when we got there=)

NEVER underestimate the power of prayer!!=)

I need to run cause I am way out of time...
But, I love you all!!

TACO TUESDAY IS TOMORROW!!!
Eat a taco and think of me=)

Semana 26 - Enero 2015

Semana 26 - Enero 2015
Taco Count for the Week:  12
Total Taco Count:  267

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!!!!

It´s always been one of my favorite holidays... still not entirely sure why?
We had Carne Asada with one of the families here=)
I can easily say that it was the best Mexican food I have eaten in my entire mission!!
I was in heaven the whole time=)
I got to the point that I wanted to keep eating, but physically couldn´t anymore.

Everyone was saying that New Year's can get pretty sketchy in Mexico.
So obviously we were in the house earlier than normal.
Normally New Year's is celebrated the same here, everyone lights fireworks at midnight.
BUT....
A lot of the people don´t have fireworks.
So what do they do?

Everyone goes out in the streets with their guns and when the clock strikes midnight...
POP POP POP!!
Welcome to Sinaloa.
My companion and I were fast asleep, but there is no way that you can sleep through that!

We woke up ate our 12 grapes or 12 new years wishes....
and TRIED to go back to sleep. =)

All in all it was definitely a New Year's to remember=)

Things are going back to normal now! Which is good!
We have a lot of investigators that are preparing for their baptism!

One of our investigators is a little bit older.
He only has one leg and is in a wheelchair.
He is the sweetest old man=)

When we give him "rides" he always sings,
"HERE'S TO YOU MRS. ROBINSON....."
That´s the only part that he knows in English but it is super cute=)

I just want you all to know how much I love the mission=)
I can´t even tell you how amazing it is!!
I love the gospel with my whole heart!!!
Sharing these blessings with others really does bring a happiness unlike any other=)

The church is true!!=)

LOVE YOU ALL=)

Semana 25 - Deciembre 2014

Semana 25 - Deciembre 2014
Taco Count for the Week:  13
Total Taco Count:  255

Well it has come and gone!
There was some much anticipation leading up to Christmas and
it's almost surreal that it has all passed!
It was my only Christmas that I'll have in the mission.
But it sure was memorable! =)

I am sorry I haven´t been able to write this past week.
I will try to squeeze everything in!!
Last Monday we had our big FIESTA for Christmas as a mission=)
There are 90 of us here in Culiacán... So it made for a good time!
We started with a Devotional, SOO spiritual!
Played games =) which got super interesting!
Then ate until we popped!!
Then ended with the traditional piñatas!=)

This past week our whole area was dead! We actually stopped at one moment to watch a tumbleweed pass by in the street.
So we ended out teaching a lot of members=)

We spent Christmas Eve with two different families.
It is always interesting to see how different missionaries mesh with the different families.
Every missionary has "their family" that they just click with super fast, and instantly have so much trust!
I feel like I have two of those families here in this ward=)
and they are the two we spent Christmas Eve with!

We had a testimony meeting with one of the families... It was SO powerful=)
We had a nice traditional Mexican Christmas dinner... Then went home=)

Christmas morning the other sister came to study with us in the morning!
Then we all went caroling together=) It was super fun!!

We ate lunch with the family that we were going to skype with... We walked in and they had the computer hooked up to their big flat screen TV=) They´re so cute!
I think they were just as excited as we were=)

We watched a church movie as we ate lunch and I sat with my watch sitting in front of my face hahaha
Then the best part of the day...

SKYPING WITH THE FAM BAM!!!!
It was seriously the greatest thing!
I never thought hanging up could be something so hard!
But in just 5 months we will talk again=)
UGH IT´S THE BEST!!!

Saturday we made a quick trip to the hospital but all is well=)

I am so excite for the new year!! More than anything for all the goals that we have set!
We have basically spent all of December setting everything up to just kill it in January=)
With the new goals we have as companions and personally too are going to really help us this year=)

I love you all and am sending all my best wishes for the new year=)

The church is so dang true!!!!!

=)

con amor,
Hermana Robinson
